Why Bill Simmons is 'obsessed' with Warriors' draft situation

Davion Mitchell

This is a massively important offseason for the Warriors.

The Dubs possess the No. 7 and No. 14 overall picks in the 2021 draft, and have a bunch of moving parts to figure out in the effort to get the roster back to being a legitimate title contender.

Warriors fans are champing at the bit to see how it all unfolds. And so is The Ringer's Bill Simmons.

"I'm obsessed with the Warriors at No. 7 because I really think if they nail the right guy, they will be the favorite in the West next year," he said on his podcast. "But the draft still has to shake out correctly for them, right?

"One of the things they need to happen is for [Jonathan] Kuminga to go five or six to push down somebody who actually might play for them next year. I do not think that's gonna happen.

"I'm just so fascinated to see what they do."

Welcome to the club, Bill.

The draft and free agency just can't arrive soon enough because yours truly wants answers.

The Warriors could end up keeping both picks, trading one or even packaging them in some sort of blockbuster transaction.

So yes, the next five weeks will be fascinating.
