Why Warriors could trade Alec Burks or Glenn Robinson III to Rockets

On the morning of the 2019 NBA Draft, the Warriors acquired the No. 41 overall pick (which became Eric Paschall) from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for a 2024 second-round selection and cash.

Late Tuesday night, the Houston Rockets reportedly acquired that 2024 second-rounder from Atlanta in a wild four-team, 12-player deal.

What does that have to do with the looming NBA trade deadline?

Well, we know that Golden State is willing to part ways with Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III for the right price.

And when you consider the fact that the Rockets are "going small" (by trading center Clint Capela), are in the market for versatile wings and have two open roster spots ...

... perhaps they will trade that 2024 pick back to the Warriors for Burks or Robinson.

Burks (37.5 percent on 4.7 attempts) and Robinson III (40 percent on 3.5 attempts) are very solid 3-point shooters, and would fit nicely within the Rockets' system:

As John Hollinger of The Athletic wrote Wednesday morning:

And now we’re here: A full 48-minutes of five-out basketball, with nobody even remotely resembling a traditional NBA big man on the court. The Rockets will throw double teams and assorted junk defenses at the league’s elite bigs (this is you, Nikola Jokic and Anthony Davis) and bet they’ll more than make up for it at the offensive end.

Houston attempted 60 3-pointers Tuesday night against the Charlotte Hornets, and 51 Sunday against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Now, if you're a Golden State fan and are thinking that the Dubs should be able to get more for either player than a second-round pick four years from now, that's understandable and perhaps the Warriors' front office shares the same outlook.

Maybe the Warriors are able to get multiple future second-round picks from Houston (or somebody else).

We will find out soon enough because Thursday at noon PT is inching closer.
