The Europeans have the recent history. The Americans have the better team on paper. But as Ryder Cup week officially gets going, oddsmakers are siding with the home squad.
The Americans have lost seven of the last nine Ryder Cups dating back to 2002, and they were drummed three years ago outside Paris. But this year’s team is younger and boasts a litany of recent results, with eight of the 12 players ranked inside the top 10 in the latest world rankings. By contrast, the Euros have the top-ranked player in the world (Jon Rahm) but no one else inside the top 13.
Between that edge in depth and the home course advantage with the matches held in front of partisan crowds on Lake Michigan, oddsmakers at PointsBet Sportsbook have made the Americans a clear favorite in the three-way market and now have them priced at nearly double their opponents with the opening match just four days away:

+1200: Tie (exactly 14-14)
With 28 points up for grabs across 28 matches, the first team to secure 14.5 points will win the Ryder Cup. In the event of a 14-14 tie, which last happened in 1989, the Europeans would retain the trophy as defending champs.

There are also a number of additional markets, including who will be the top point-earner for the event and for each specific team. Rahm (unsurprisingly) leads the way, as the top player in the world by a wide margin in recent months, although he enters off a missed cut last week in Napa where he also dealt with a stomach bug.
