Vaughn Dalzell breaks down how to bet the rubber match between the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays.
Yankees (-120) at Rays (+100): O/U 7.5
New York made a comeback and finished Tampa Bay, 3-2 to even the series 1-1 with the Yankees’ ace on the mound.
The Yankees are 7-0 with Gerrit Cole pitching this season and 6-1 on the run line. Cole himself is 5-0 with a 1.92 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 52 strikeouts to 14 walks.
Cole’s the AL CY Young favorite and will have his toughest test yet as he’s struggled with Tampa Bay in his career at 2-7 and a 3.52 ERA over 15 starts. Current Tampa Bay hitters own 183 plate appearances against Cole with a 29.5 K% and a .218 OBA.
The Rays are rolling with Javy Guerra and Josh Fleming as apart of a bullpen game, so the Yankees will see a few different pitchers, but nothing they aren’t prepared for.
The Yankees are 18-16 on the season and 7-8 on the road, so they need this game and this series. New York won the previous series against Cleveland after losing three-straight series.
This will be a great game and I will take the favorite and continue to roll with the Cole train.
