Vaughn Dalzell breaks down how he’s betting the Chicago White Sox against the Kansas City Royals.
White Sox (-140) at Royals (+120): O/U 9.0
Kansas City has now won two-straight games and looks for its first three-game winning streak of the season, while Chicago has alternated wins and losses over the past five games.
Despite the Royals getting the 12-5 win yesterday, the White Sox have a nice bounce back matchup with Jordan Lyles pitching for Kansas City. Lyles is 0-5 with a 6.69 ERA over seven starts this season.
The Royals are 0-7 on the ML in the games that Lyles pitches and 1-6 ATS on the run line. The White Sox are 1-6 in Lucas Giolito‘s starts this season and lost by two or more runs in five out of six losses.
So, the two pitchers’ teams are a combined 1-13 on the ML when these two pitch. On the season, these two teams have the second and third-worst records in all of baseball, only ahead of the Oakland Athletics.
Lyles has a 15.4 K% and .314 OBA versus current White Sox hitters over 130 plate appearances and Giolio owns a 25.7 K% and a .276 OBA over 101 plate appearances versus current Royals’ hitters.
Giolito is 9-6 with a 3.67 ERA over 20 career starts against Kansas City compared to Lyles who is 1-3 in seven games and five starts with a 4.55 ERA versus Chicago.
I like the slight pitching edge for Chicago and to continue a fade on Lyles and the Royals. I played the White Sox on the ML at -140 odds and would go out to -150.
