How to bet Kyrie Irving’s Assists prop and LeBron’s Rebounds + Assists

Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Vaughn Dalzell breaks down why’s he backing Kyrie Irving‘s assists prop vs the Spurs and LeBron’s Rebounds and Assists combo props vs the Warriors.

Kyrie Irving O/U 5.5 Assists vs. Spurs

Kyrie Irving will play his fifth game with the Dallas Mavericks and first since the All-Star Game.

Irving posted 32 points, 15 assists and 6 rebounds in the All-Star Game, out-shining his teammate Luka Dončić (4 points, 5 assists). Irving has scored 24 or more points in all four games with the Mavericks and recorded at least five assists in all four games.

In his four contests with Dallas, Irving has recorded 5, 10, 7 and 6 assists in that order on 14.7 potential assists per game in that short span.

In those four games, Irving ranks 8th in the NBA during that span with 61.3 passes made per game compared to Luka Dončić, who is 2nd with 75.3 in that same stretch but only three games played.

San Antonio allows the second-most assists per game (26.5), only behind the Hornets (26.6). Over the last 15 games, that number has crept up to 27.1 assists allowed (25th) and 26.8 assists per game on the road overall (25th).

Dallas needs Kyrie’s passing as the Mavericks are tied for last place in the NBA with 22.4 assists per game (Knicks) but the second-fewest turnovers (12.4).

Over the last four games with Irving, Dallas averages 26.8 assists per game (8th) and 12.8 turnovers per game (11th), which is a +4.4 assists per game upgrade and -0.4 turnover differential. The Spurs are a great opponent to keep the good times rolling for Irving and the Mavericks.

I played Irving Over 5.5 Assists at -130 odds and would go out to -150 for this one.

Pick: Kyrie Irving Over 5.5 Assists (1u)

LeBron James O/U 13.5 Rebounds and Assists vs. Warriors

We have a big game tonight in Los Angeles between the Lakers and the Warriors.

LeBron James is done with the scoring record, so he can focus on winning games and playing team basketball.

Without Russell Westbrook, LeBron will take on a larger load in the rebounding and assists department.

In his last eight games without Westbrook, James recorded at least 14 R+A in five of those, 13+ in six and 12+ in 7 games. Against the Warriors, LeBron loves to play up and the Lakers are -5.5 point favorites versus Golden State without Stephen Curry.

In his last five meetings versus the Warriors, LeBron has totaled 23, 13, 23, 16 and 21 R+A, hitting this Over four of five times. In the past 11 meetings against Golden State, LeBron went Over 13.5 R+A in eight of those contests.

Entering the All-Star break, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer recorded 12, 10, 15 and 14 R+A in the four games leading up to his scoring record and the game after.

When LeBron plays 30-39 minutes this year, he averages 8.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game (14.1 R+A) and 9.6 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game (18.2 R+A) in 40 or more minutes. At home, he averages 8.1 rebounds and 7.4 assists (15.5 R+A), so I like the numbers backing this prop up.

This opened this at 13.5 and is moving to 14.5 at some shops juiced to the Over, so this could close at 15.5. I played the Over 13.5 Rebounds and Assists for -130 and -155 odds. I would go to 14.5 for -115 or better.

Pick: LeBron James Over 13.5 Rebounds and Assists (1u)
