DeMar DeRozan O/U 24.5 Points vs. Blazers
There haven’t been many players having a strong start to the season as DeMar DeRozan has.
After being called washed up as left San Antonio, or when the Lakers chose Russell Westbrook over DeRozan -- we could have written him off, but instead, he was reborn with the Bulls.
NBC’s player prop model projects DeRozan to score 32.8 points, crushing the Over 24.5 points. DeRozan is the predicted leading scorer of the NBA slate tonight.
Last season, DeRozan averaged 21.6 points per game with the Spurs, the third-lowest total since 2013-14. He attempted 15.1 field goals and 1.2 three-pointers per game.
With Chicago, DeRozan attempts 18.8 field goals (second-most in career) and 2.5 three-pointers per game (third-most in career).
The Bulls forward has scored 25-plus points in 9-of-14 games (64.2%) and seven of his previous nine (77.8%).
His 7.9 free-throws attempted per game also rank fourth-most in his career, so DeRozan is doing it all.
Portland is dead last in the NBA with 25.67 points per game surrendered to small forwards and 4.09 three-pointers made, per FantasyPros. Both numbers are beneficial to DeRozan hitting the Over for a third-straight game.
Portland’s Norman Powell and Damian Lillard are day-to-day, but I expect at least one, if not both, to suit up versus Chicago at home.
The Blazers rank 20th in the league with 109.3 points per game allowed, 26th in opponent field goal percentage (46.5%) and 28th in opponent three-point percentage (38.4%) on the season.
Over the last five games, those numbers get worse. Portland ranks 30th in three-point defense (41.7%), 29th in field goal defense (48.5%) and 25th in points per game (113.0).
DeRozan should have another big night as they look to win No. 3 in a row and five out of the last six. DeRozan has led the team in scoring three of the past five games and eight out of 14 times this year (57.1%).
I like the chances DeRozan surpasses 25-plus points after dropping 35 and 38 in his last two and shooting 69.2% from the field (27/39).
This matchup with Portland is a very positive matchup to continue that as he averages 29.7 points per game on the road this year compared to 24.1 at home.
Back DeRozan Over 24.5 Points or play the 25+ prop line if you miss 24.5.
