BILLS VS. LIONS (-1.5): O/U 36.5

Dan Campbell gets his first live-game action as the head coach of Detroit.

You know he had his extra fill of coffee this morning/afternoon. The Lions begin a new era of Detroit football. One led by both Campbell and quarterback Jared Goff.

Since 2016, Goff is the third-winningest quarterback (.852) behind Tom Brady (.925) and Dak Prescott (.912). Goff will have limited action, while Josh Allen will stay on the sideline all night.

Expect Mitchell Trubinsky and Jake Fromm to run things behind the center for Buffalo tonight, while Goff, Tim Boyle and David Blough will all play limited time.

Both teams should have able-chances to score, and last season, Detroit allowed the most points and yards in team history. That will not be fixed in the offseason, so take a look at the Over or Buffalo’s Team Total.

Here are the odds via PointsBet.

BUF TEN

BUF TEN

The Bills have scored 24 or more points in five straight preseason games and 19 or more in seven of the previous eight.

The Lions have allowed 20 or more points in three straight preseason games, but the Campbell era is underway.

TITANS VS. FALCONS (-1): O/U 38.0

How fitting Julio Jones’ first game as a Titan will be in Atlanta. Jones is not expected to play any or many snaps for Tennessee, but at least he will be “at home” in his first official game as a Titan.

The Falcons will roll out AJ McCarron and rookie Feleipe Franks as the quarterbacks tonight, while the Titans have Logan Woodside and Matt Barkley.

We are unlikely to see Matt Ryan or Ryan Tannehill, but if we do, do not expect more than two drives.

Arthur Smith will have his first game as the head coach of the Falcons.

Entering this season, he should have his work cut out for him, but a home meeting with the Titans is a nice setup for a warmup game.

I expect this to be close, and with all four backup quarterbacks being below or about average at their position, I target the Under.

We could be in for a snoozer. If both teams focusing on fixing the offensive lines and establishing the ground game like I expect, the total of 38 could be a few points too high.

Here are the odds via PointsBet.

TEN ATL

TEN ATL

The Titans scored 17 or more points in three of the last four preseason games, while the Falcons had 10 or fewer points in three of the past five.

Edge: Under 38.0
