Just a handful of weeks ago, the world got the notification; Tom Brady had retired. January 29th, 2022 to be exact. I remember this because I was having quite the time at Gasparilla when everybody’s phones started blowing up. Imagine me having my first ever Gaspy only to have it wrecked by the signature selfishness of Brady trying to steal the day the city of Tampa looks forward to every year. He knew what he was doing, and nobody can convince me otherwise.

Beginning in the last week of February, whispers of Brady back on the gridiron got louder with NFL Insiders reporting that the Brady retirement is somewhat half-baked. Like one of Adele’s greatest hits, rumor has it the 49ers could actually be in the works to nab the 44 year-old vegan. Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio floated the idea, which then propelled The Athletic’s Mike Sando to dangle the carrot in front of football fans’ faces.

Brady Maybe not Retired

Obviously, this is nothing official. It just must make you wonder if TB12 will lace up the cleats even for one more season. Playing for San Francisco would also fulfill his childhood dream of playing for his hometown 49ers. Stepping into this SF team would draw extremely familiar comparisons to when he left New England for Tampa Bay. Both teams have good coaches, strong running games, great pass catching groups, top 10 defenses…and no worthy signal callers.

I reached out to my consigliere at PointsBet and asked, “What would the hypothetical line be for Tom Brady to win MVP if he joined the Niners?” The response, “15/1 (+1500).” Not bad. Somewhat similar to the number (+1200 on August 4th) he had heading into 2021 where he finished behind only Aaron Rodgers. As always, shop around and get the best odds.

Keep an eye on the situation over the next few months. If TB12 still has the itch...if not San Francisco then maybe Miami or somewhere else.
