Although the English Premier League is just past the halfway point of the season, the title race is already Manchester City’s to lose.

City enter Matchweek 23 eleven points clear of second place Liverpool, and Pep Guardiola’s side has shown no signs of slowing down any time soon.

While it looks to be getting late early in terms of the title race, the battle for fourth spot in the table – and Champions League football next season – is a contentious one.

Four clubs are separated by two points in the race for fourth place, with a battle between Manchester United and West Ham on deck Saturday.

Below you will find an overlay from this match available at PointsBet.

For those unfamiliar with the term “overlay,” it simply refers to odds that are higher than an outcome’s true probability.

For example, if an outcome has a 50% chance of happening, the correlating odds would be +100.

If the odds offered on that specific event are +150, or an implied probability of 40%, then the price would represent an overlay.

MANCHESTER UNITED v. WEST HAM – DOUBLE CHANCE – DRAW OR WEST HAM (-110)

Despite last weekend’s disappointing result at home versus Leeds, West Ham should still be viewed as a dangerous threat to head into Old Trafford and take all three points on offer Saturday against Manchester United.

David Moyes’ side had rattled off four consecutive victories in all competitions prior to last weekend’s defeat, and while far from their best, the Hammers displayed some mettle, battling back to level the contest on two occasions after falling behind.

Although Jarrod Bowen was not brilliant against Leeds by any stretch of the imagination, he did add another goal to his season total, which now sits at nine in all competitions (with six of them coming in the last month).

West Ham’s form on the road should not be taken lightly, either.

The Hammers have earned the fourth-most points when playing as the visiting side this season, trailing only the three clubs that sit ahead of them in the table – Manchester City, Chelsea, and Liverpool.

Manchester United’s form at home, on the other hand, has been rather mundane.

United have earned just 16 of a possible 30 points available in Premier League contests at Old Trafford this season, and despite a few reasonable results, Ralf Rangnick’s squad look to be dysfunctional.

Cristiano Ronaldo was clearly annoyed when he was removed from Wednesday’s 3-1 victory at Brentford, a margin of victory that is not indicative of how close the match truly was.

A bright spot for Manchester United may be 19-year-old Anthony Elanga, who has shown real promise in his last two appearances.

United have the firepower to score at any moment, however their disjointed play and obvious frustration makes them a difficult team to back with any sort of confidence.

Based on my projections, West Ham either defeats Manchester United or plays to a draw at Old Trafford 63.8% of the time – a percentage that translates to odds of -176.

Accordingly, the play on Saturday becomes West Ham to win or draw at odds of -110 (implied probability of 52.4%).
