The NHL has released the dates of the home openers for each team next season, and the Bruins will be spending the first week or so on the road.

The B's will open their home schedule on Thursday night, Oct. 20 against the Devils. Prior to that, they'll be the visiting team in openers in Columbus (Thursday, Oct. 13) and Toronto (Saturday, Oct. 15).

The only other time the Bruins opened their home schedule against the Devils was during Patrice Bergeron’s rookie season in the NHL -- 2003-04 -- in a game that resulted in a 3-3 tie,  marking how long ago it was during the pre-shootout era of the league.  Rhode Island native Jeff Jillson scored a pair of goals for Boston that night, earning him one of the few No. 1 stars for a game in his NHL career.

Boston’s all-time record in home openers is 38-37-16.

The full 2016-17 NHL schedule will be released tomorrow at 1 p.m.
