Share

The NHL has released its comprehensive schedule for the preseason, and the Bruins will be one of four teams charged with opening up the exhibition game schedule. The Bruins will host the New Jersey Devils at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center home of the Providence Bruins on Sunday, Sept. 20 for a 7 p.m. puck drop while the Florida Panthers/Nashville Predators will face off in a split-squad doubleheader on Sunday as well.

The Bruins will play seven preseason games in all with home-and-home tilts against the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings and Washington Capitals, the first time in more than a decade that the Bruins haven’t played the arch-rival Montreal Canadiens at least once in the preseason.

Among the highlights of the 15-day, 104-game slate is the New York Islanders launching the first season in their new home, Barclays Center, in Brooklyn. The Islanders will play host to three Metropolitan Division rivals: the Philadelphia Flyers Sept. 21, New Jersey Devils Sept. 23 and Washington Capitals Sept. 28.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning will square off in the inaugural Kraft HockeyvilleTM USA matchup in Johnstown, Pa., on Sept. 29. The game will be broadcast in the United States by NBCSN at 7 p.m., ET.

The 2015-16 NHL regular season opens Wednesday, Oct. 7, and the Bruins will open their season by hosting the Winnipeg Jets at TD Garden on Oct. 8.
