Thursday, Dec. 15: Senyshyn misses cut for Team Canada

Here are all the links from around the hockey world and what I’m reading while glad that Adam ended up winning Survivor. That’s a pretty emotional story that undoubtedly touches a lot of people that watch the show.

*Barstool Sports got wind of a Yahoo! Sports poll showing that some hockey fans think the NHL would be better without the fighting. Yeah, I’m with Barstool on this one. It would certainly be safer for the players, but it wouldn’t be a better product to sell to fans.

*The NHL’s big question is “Who is the best player in the league?” and the answer seems pretty unanimous.

*Bruins prospect Zach Senyshyn was excited and “extremely nervous” about the World Junior camp for Team Canada, and unfortunately he ended up being one of the last players cut from the squad.

*Pierre Lebrun sits down with San Jose Sharks defenseman Brent Burns about a number of topics including beards, and booming slap shots.

*PHT writer and FOH (Friend of Haggs) Mike Halford has the San Jose Sharks recalling first round pick Timo Meier for his first NHL stint.

*Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Scott Darling has now taken part in the Barstool Sports goalie challenge.

*Ranking the eight rookie defensemen that are currently succeeding in top pairing roles, including Boston’s Brandon Carlo. I would definitely agree with Zach Werenski taking the top spot among the rankings, but putting the 25-year-old Maple Leafs "rookie" ahead of Carlo is a little bit of a stretch based on how that team's defense has played this year. Carlo has really been instrumental in the B's getting back to their defensive roots, along with Tuukka Rask getting back in touch with his inner Vezina Trophy winner this season.

*For something completely different: it’s awfully tough being Charles in Charge these days.
