Morning Skate: Quick transition to coaching for Ott

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while football season is officially here.

*It didn’t take long at all for Steve Ott to pick up his first assistant coaching gig after announcing his retirement from the NHL after a career as a scrappy, trouble-making trash-talker.

*In a great hire by the NHL, former Anaheim Ducks enforcer George Parros has been named head of NHL Player Safety in the right kind of leadership that is well-versed in the borderline plays he’ll be ruling on this season. It’s a tough gig where you’ll never really make anyone happy, but it’s also very important to have someone at the top that’s keenly aware the NHL’s physical play and hard-hitting is something they can never lose from their on-ice product.

*Chris Kuc says that the new Blackhawks practice facility is going to be a place where even the beat writers are going to want to hang out there. I actually liked the old place where the Hawks practiced, so we’ll see I guess.

*The inimitable Biz Nasty is joining the radio broadcast for Arizona Coyotes games this season in a role that was tailor made for him.

*PHT writer Joel Alfieri has the Seth Jones believing that the Columbus Blue Jackets are going to be able to make a run at the Cup this season.

*For something completely different: Here’s a list of superhero TV shows that you’ve probably never heard of. I’ve actually heard of a couple of them, but I can’t say I ever really watched any of them.
