Thursday, May 11: A Sharks' offseason roster shakeup?

Share

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while enjoying watching Trollhunters on Netflix with my son.

*FOH (Friend of Haggs) Kevin Kurz says that it’s time for the San Jose Sharks to make a big move with their roster.

*With the New York Rangers officially done for the season, it’s fair to ask if Derek Stepan still fits in with this group of Blueshirts players.

*PHT writer James O’Brien has Washington Capitals coach Barry Trotz unwilling to comment on the play of Alex Ovechkin after a Game 7 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins where he basically disappeared after the first few minutes of the game. It is way, way past time for a big change with the Capitals after so many lackluster postseason performances.

*On the other hand, Penguins coach Mike Sullivan once again pulled the right strings in getting Pittsburgh back to the Eastern Conference Finals for the second straight season.

*In the other Game 7, the Anaheim Ducks slew their Game 7 demons by taking down the Edmonton Oilers and advancing to the Western Conference Final.

*Interesting names being bandied about for the Florida Panthers head coaching gig, including former Habs head coach Michel Therrien after scoring a couple of interviews for the vacant post.

*Vladimir Putin commented on Donald Trump’s firing of his FBI Director, and he did it decked out in hockey gear, no less.

*For something completely different: My favorite comic book saga if all-time is boiled down to its basics in this video. I’m looking forward to it being done in a live-action movie the proper way after the X-Men: Last Stand debacle years ago.
