SALT LAKE CITY -- The Boston Celtics' summer league schedule did not get off to the best of starts, losing 100-82 to the Utah Jazz.
Marcus Smart led the Celtics with a game-high 26 points along with five rebounds and eight assists.
Second round pick Jordan Mickey had 16 points and four rebounds.
James Young had a decent game for the Celtics, chipping in 12 points.
Utah was led by Dante Exum's 20 points. Jazz wing Rodney Hood had 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Former Boston College star Olivier Hanlan, a second round pick of the Jazz last month, came off the bench and scored three points.
The Celtics used a slew of different lineup combinations, most of which struggled in limiting Utah's perimeter players from getting into the lane for lay-ups, or kicking it out to a teammate for an open or lightly contested shot.
Boston resumes summer league play on Tuesday against Philadelphia at 7 p.m.
