Celtics playing it safe with Crowder and Smart

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Boston Celtics plan to keep both Jae Crowder (left knee) and Marcus Smart (left toe) out of practice today, but both are making progress towards returning to the court soon.

Crowder suffered a bruised knee injury in Friday’s 118-98 win over Washington while Smart missed his second straight game on Friday with a left big toe injury.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens said both players “are feeling better” and then added, “for the most part, both guys are at least projecting towards being likely available Tuesday (versus the Milwaukee Bucks).”

Crowder said “for sure” he’ll be ready to play in time for Tuesday’s road game at Milwaukee.

Boston’s Jared Sullinger suffered what appeared to be some back soreness in Friday’s win. However, Stevens said the 6-foot-9 big man would practice today.
