ATLANTA – It’s not a stretch to think the Boston Celtics can scrounge up 15 points to replace what they’ll be missing now that Avery Bradley and his right hamstring are done for Game 2 and most likely the rest of this series.

But when it comes to Bradley, his impact on this team went far beyond what he contributed in the stats sheet.

Here we take a look at five key areas that the Celtics will look to shore up without their second-leading scorer and top defensive player around.

Bradley’s movement without the ball draws more attention now than earlier, and that has opened things up more for Isaiah Thomas and Boston’s other shooters. He’s still at his best in catch-and-shoot scenarios, but being in constant motion has definitely provided a boost for his teammates to get more free offensively.

Boston has not shot the ball well from 3-point range all season and doesn’t exactly own the paint, so Bradley’s in-between game has been a huge plus for them and was going to be in this series. Atlanta packs the paint and all but dares you to beat them with shooting. No one seems to come off screens better on this team for mid-range shots than Bradley.

As the longest-tenured Celtic, Bradley understands better than anyone on this roster just how difficult it can be to navigate your way through the postseason. Having someone who can do more than just talk about getting past rough postseason stretches – but has actually been a part of teams that have done it – is the kind of intangible that Boston will miss in his absence.

There are few Celtics players who tend to feast off of playing on the road more than Bradley. His offensive statistics are better on the road in just about every meaningful category such as scoring (16, versus 14.4 at home), 3-point shooting (38.8 percent versus 32.8) and assists (2.3 versus 1.9).

The NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year voting tells you a little something about how Bradley is viewed in the pantheon of defensive players. He finished sixth in the voting, but was tops among all guards. And in a series where guard play will go far in deciding the outcome, not having the league’s best defender in the backcourt is a huge punch to the gut for Boston that may prove to be too much to overcome.
