Paul Pierce didn’t get to be a Celtic for his entire career, but he’s already found a way of putting a positive spin on it.
When the Celtics won the NBA draft lottery Tuesday night, they did so with one of four first-round picks the team acquired in a trade that sent Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Jason Terry and T.J. White to the Nets.
Or, as newly retired Pierce put it, he gave the Celtics the No. 1 overall pick.

Assuming the Celtics keep the pick, Washington’s Markelle Fultz is widely assumed to be the top choice.
