Ray Allen responds to '08 Celtics with Facebook post

BOSTON -- You had to figure Ray Allen would respond in some way to the shade thrown his way when the starting five from the championship squad -- minus himself, who wasn’t given an invite -- appeared together on Kevin Garnett’s Area21 show last night.

Early this morning, Allen took to Facebook with a message that read, "The power to Push limits."

It also included a photo of Allen being guarded by former Celtic Rajon Rondo.

During the Area 21 episode on Monday night, Garnett tried to explain why the group didn’t invite Allen to the reunion.

"Everybody's asking us, ‘Where's Ray?' " Garnett said at the start of the show. "People don't understand that this is real life for us . . . and the situation with Ray is very sensitive."

Garnett was joined by fellow 2008 starters Rondo, Paul Pierce, Kendrick Perkins as well as key sub Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis.

They each acknowledged how hurt they felt when Allen left the Celtics as an unrestricted free agent to sign with the Miami Heat where he helped LeBron James win his first NBA title.

While Allen signing with the Heat bothered the players, it seems their issue with Allen had more to do with him leaving without talking it out or giving them a heads-up that it was happening.

"It almost felt like, you're married and you come home and the wife and the kids and the clothes [are] out of the house and you didn't get a note or nothing," said Pierce. "You didn't get an Instagram or Tweet or nothing. They just gone. Like, man, that's wrong."

Pierce later added how the feelings that he and some of his teammates in Boston have towards Allen, might be different if he had just talked to them about what he was thinking before he made the decision.

"Then it would have settled over a little bit more," Pierce said. "I don't think we would have been as salty. Now it's uncomfortable. I haven't talked to Ray in some years now and it's just, it's different."
