Report: Cavs players warned Butler to stay away from Cleveland's ‘volatile situation'

With the Celtics and Cavaliers reportedly in the running to acquire Jimmy Butler from the Bulls, and with Butler reportedly telling the Cavs that he'd rather stay in Chicago, comes word that Cavs players were warning Butler to stay away from Cleveland.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports "several of the Cavaliers who had been prodding Butler to push for a trade from the Bulls the last five days were now warning him to stay away from a suddenly volatile situation."

The firing of Cavs GM David Griffin this week has led to questions in Cleveland and as the Sun-Times story puts it, "LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love could be headed for an unforeseen early breakup."

Butler had pushed the Bulls to trade him to the Cavs before "warning shots were fired Tuesday," according to the report.

Does that leave the Celtics standing alone in Jimmy Butler Derby?
