BOSTON – See, it’s not just Danny Ainge and the Boston Celtics who have lots of love for Terry Rozier.
Rozier, selected by the Celtics in the first round of last June’s NBA draft, has an endorsement deal with Adidas, the company announced on Monday.
The release also indicates that Wizards first round pick Kelly Oubre Jr. has also inked a deal with Adidas.
“The rookies will be featured in a variety of upcoming Adidas initiatives and will play a critical role in the development of basketball power and apparel,” the statement reads.
Chris Grancio, Adidas global basketball general manager added, “Kelly and Terry are outstanding athletes with incredible passion for the game and unique style off the court. We’re moving in a new direction, and adding the best young talent is essential to building a successful future. We’re excited to welcome them both to the Adidas family.”
Rozier, the 16th overall pick in the June’s NBA draft, was not expected to go as high in the first round. He was part of the Celtics’ two summer league teams that competed in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, respectively. He demonstrated great quickness getting into the lane in addition to a nice touch from the perimeter.
Playing time will be difficult to come by for the 6-foot-1 guard.
In addition to returning backcourt starters Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart, the Celtics also have Isaiah Thomas, as well as Evan Turner, who will play on the perimeter and in the backcourt this season.
