Brad Stevens is the superstar of the Celtics right now, and Bob Ryan thinks Celtics general manager Danny Ainge hit a home run by bringing him to Boston three years ago.

“Ainge hit a home run, he hit a grand slam home run,” said Ryan. “And he obviously did his homework, he got the right guy. Stevens has entered into this without the ego that other college coaches have come in with. Plus, he had one other thing going for him. That first year was the ultimate honeymoon, the envy of every head coach in every sport ever. He could’ve gone 0-82 two years ago and still come out looking okay. But he used that as a learning session, and he has learned very quickly.”
