Orioles agree to deal with Cuban pitcher Miranda

MIAMI – The Orioles have agreed on a contract with Cuban left-handed pitcher Ariel Miranda. The deal, pending a physical was first reported CBSsports.com and confirmed by an industry source.

Miranda, who was born in 1990, had a record of 22-25 with a 3.78 ERA in 80 games, 64 of them starts in Cuba from 2007-2013.

The Orioles have previously signed four Cuban players: outfielders Dariel Alvarez, Elier Leyva and Henry Urrutia and pitcher Lazaro Leyva.

Alvarez and Urrutia are currently at Norfolk. Elier Leyva is at Delmarva. Urrutia played for the Orioles in 2013.
