He's not taking anybody spot in the rotation - yet - but Red Sox pitching prospect Eduardo Rodriguez is going to make his MLB debut Thursday for the Red Sox against the Rangers.

John Farrell told reporters the news on Wednesday before the team's final game against the Twins.

Rodriguez will just come up for the one start and then be sent back down.

Since being acquired by the Red Sox in a trade that sent Andrew Miller to Baltimore, Rodriguez has pitched 92.1 innings with a 2.14 ERA, 89 strikeouts, 17 walks, and three home runs allowed, according to RedSoxStats.

He is 4-3 with a 2.98 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over 48.1 IP this season for the PawSox.

Rodriguez is considered one of the top prospects in all of major league baseball.
