2019 Winter Classic: Bruins-Blackhawks practice jerseys, pucks revealed

Share

The 2019 Winter Classic between the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks at Notre Dame Stadium is fast approaching, and on Tuesday the NHL revealed the practice jerseys and special pucks that will be used for the event.

First, let's take a look at the practice jerseys. They are similar in design to the Notre Dame jerseys, which is a nice tribute given where the game will be played.

The game-used pucks will actually change color depending on the temperature.

The puck color will change when the temperature is above freezing, which lets the referees know the puck needs to be replaced. That's a pretty cool feature, especially when you have an outdoor game where the weather changes on a whim. It's important to have the best equipment possible given the conditions, and this step will help ensure a higher quality of play.

The Bruins and Blackhawks will square off in the Winter Classic on New Year's Day. The game will be broadcast on NBC.
