With Day 2 of the NHL Draft underway, Don Sweeney and the Bruins will finally get to make some picks.
The B's saw 31 players go off the board in the first round of the draft Tuesday night, but they didn't have any selections after trading their first-round pick to Anaheim as part of the Ondrej Kase deal last season.
Whlie having to wait until the 58th overall pick will make Sweeney's chances of hitting a draft home run more difficult, it doesn't mean that the B's won't be able to strike gold with a later selection.
In fact, some of the Bruins' best players were taken after the first round -- a fact pointed out by the NHL early Wednesday morning.
Second-round selections Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci, and third-round selections Brad Marchand and Zdeno Chara have combined for 2,857 points over their NHL careers -- and all rank among the top 7 highest-scoring active players taken after the first round who are still active today.
The Bruins enter Day 2 of the NHL Draft with five selections: the 27th pick in the second, third, fifth, sixth, and seventh rounds.
