Former Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid is unsure of his future in hockey.
McQuaid has suffered just about every injury there is, and he's now focused on his health more than anything. The 33-year-old opened up about his recovery process and noted he hasn't skated since early September.
"Ultimately it's just all about long-term health and getting back to feeling good," McQuaid said, according to Shane Ross of CBC. "Sometimes you have to take a step back and think outside of just hockey itself. So that's kind of where I'm at right now."
The 33-year-old still is living in Boston, and obviously would be ready for another stint in the NHL if his health allows it. If his physical state has caused his career to come to an end, he doesn't regret playing a physical style of hockey.
"You could say that it shortened my career or you could say that my career wouldn't even have been as long as it was if I didn't play the way I did."
That physicality, unfortunately, has caused the 2011 Stanley Cup Champion to endure an excessive amount of pain -- he wonders if it'll ever go away.

That pain has caused him to seriously think about retirement. But while it's an option, he can't help but think about taking the ice once more.
"I don't ever want, you know, people asking me like, 'Oh are you done, are you coming back, when are you coming back?' I don't have those answers right now. Ultimately it would be awesome to get to a point where I'm healthy, I feel great and I'm able to skate and not be limited in any way and get back playing," McQuaid said.
Over 512 games played, McQuaid tallied 16 goals and 57 assists for 73 points with a plus-62 rating while also racking up 694 penalty minutes. Over his 11-year career, he suited up for the Bruins, New York Rangers, and Columbus Blue Jackets.
The blueliner was in attendance for the Bruins 3-2 overtime win over the Rangers on Friday afternoon at TD Garden.
