Boston's professional sports coaches are willing to help each other out. That much has become clear over the last few years.
But Alex Cora could only offer so much to Bruce Cassidy when the Boston Bruins head coach called him up prior to the Stanley Cup Final.
"I was like, 'We don’t play hockey in Puerto Rico,' " the Red Sox told reporters Wednesday at Fenway Park. " ' Keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll be fine.' "
Hey, at least he's honest.
Cora may not be a hockey buff, but he's still supporting Cassidy's Bruins in their quest for the Cup by tweeting at the team after every win, including Monday night's Game 1 victory over the St. Louis Blues.
Cassidy also has plenty of other resources: The Bruins coach admitted he had an "insightful" conversation with New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick about how to deal with Boston's long layoff after the Eastern Conference final and also spoke with Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens.
That's good news for Cora, who can stick to a fan's rooting interest rather than wade into unfamiliar waters.
