Blue Jackets' Josh Anderson speaks out on hit by Charlie McAvoy

The NHL issued a response to Charlie McAvoy's hit on Josh Anderson, and now so has the Blue Jackets winger.

McAvoy was suspended for Game 1 of the Bruins' upcoming series vs. the Hurricanes after an illegal check to Anderson's head. The 25-year-old addressed the hit to reporters in Columbus, acknowledging that it indeed was illegal, but the two buried the hatchet in the handshake line following the B's win and he doesn't believe McAvoy intended to make such a dangerous play.

Anderson also said he went through concussion protocol following McAvoy's hit.

Though McAvoy is disappointed he'll be forced to miss a game, the 21-year-old said he respects the league's decision and looks forward to facing off against Carolina in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final.
