There are few stages in sports more exciting than a Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, and the ratings for Wednesday night's Boston Bruins vs. St. Louis Blues matchup at TD Garden certainly reflect that.

The Blues' 4-1 victory to clinch their first Stanley Cup championship in team history drew a historic rating on NBC.

People in St. Louis, as you might imagine, were glued to the television given the chance to see the team's first title. The St. Louis area finished as the No. 1 market overall, with Boston finishing second. Other New England markets such as Providence and Hartford also drew strong numbers.

Boston's 30.2 local rating (48 share) was the highest for an NBC Sports NHL telecast in the market since Game 6 of the 2013 Stanley Cup Final when the Bruins lost the series in dramatic fashion to the Chicago Blackhawks at TD Garden. This Game 7 also represents the fourth-highest Boston rating for an NBC Sports NHL telecast overall. In addition to Game 6 in 2013, the other matchups that drew a higher Boston rating than Wednesday night's contest were Game 6 and Game 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final.
