On Tuesday, Boston College head coach Jerry York became New England's newest Hall of Famer.

York, 73, is the winningest coach in college hockey history. In his 46 seasons, York has racked up 1,067 wins — the most of all time by more than 100 wins. York has won five NCAA Championships — four with the Eagles — which is tied for second-most in college hockey history.

York is a Massachusetts lifer. He grew up in Watertown, attended Boston College High School and spent his undergraduate years playing center at BC. After coaching stints at Clarkson and Bowling Green, York returned to Chestnut Hill, where he's been the coach of the Eagles since 1994.

When he initially got the call from Toronto, York reportedly didn't believe it at first.

Hayley Wickenheiser, Guy Carbonneau, Vaclav Nedomansky, Sergei Zubov and Jim Rutherford round out the rest of the 2019 Hall of Fame inductee class.

York's Eagles went 14-22-3 last year and did not make the Frozen Four tournament. BC's most recent national championship came in 2012.
