If you watch highlight videos of Fabian Lysell on YouTube or Twitter, it doesn't take long to realize the Swedish right winger plays an exciting brand of hockey with impressive offensive skill.

This scoring ability is among the reasons why Lysell was in the top 15 of many prospect rankings entering the 2021 NHL Draft, and the Boston Bruins were happy to take him with the No. 21 overall pick in the first round Friday night.

What can Bruins fans expect to see on the ice from Lysell?

"I think I’m a dynamic player," Lysell said on a Zoom call with reporters Friday night. "I like to challenge opponents with pace. I try to use my skating to create separation from myself and to be in those dangerous scoring areas. That’s what I think."

What did Bruins general manager Don Sweeney see in Lysell during the scouting process?

"Obviously, when you play in the SHL as a young player, you’re not necessarily given primary roles and you might not have the same offensive output that he wants. So, you really pay attention when he goes and plays against his peers," Sweeney explained on a Zoom call Friday night.

"Can he dominate games or at least be a game breaker? And I think he’s showed moments of that skillset as well. And he’s got a lot of work to do in terms of rounding out his overall game. He just has the speed, he has skill, the ability to shoot the puck past the goaltender. And again, some game breaking ability that was hard for us to pass on."

The Bruins might not have to wait long to see Lysell up close in Boston. The 18-year-old forward hopes to participate in the team's development camp scheduled for Aug. 2 through Aug. 6 at Warrior Ice Arena in Brighton.

"Yeah definitely, hopefully I can come to development camp. That should be a really fun experience to do," Lysell said. "I think what I’m trying to work on right now is my strength. That’s something that I’ve been working on a lot in the summer.

"On the ice, I try to work on the puck protection to create separation for myself better and control the pace a bit more at times. Then obviously, still trying to work on my strength. I feel like that’s the thing that separates yourself from others. Those areas are something I’m trying to work on."
