Longtime Bruins nemesis P.K. Subban is headed back to the Eastern Conference and will be seeing the B's on their opening night at TD Garden.
The Nashville Predators have traded the veteran defenseman to the New Jersey Devils for defensemen Steven Santini, Jeremy Davies, a second-round pick (34th overall) today in the NHL Draft and a second-rounder in 2020.
The Bruins host the Devils in their home opener at the Garden Oct. 12.
It was three years ago that Subban, now 30, was dealt from the Canadiens to the Predators for defenseman Shea Weber in another blockbuster deal after his six seasons in Montreal included some memorable playoff and regular-season moments against the Bruins.
Subban was coming off his worst statistical season with nine goals and 31 points in 63 games with the Predators.
Now, he goes from a Western Conference powerhouse that was apparently looking to clear cap space - he has a $9 million cap hit the next three years - to a team whose last-place finish earned them No. 1 pick Jack Hughes, 18, the US National Development Team star. The Devils are also trying to sign forward Taylor Hall, the 2018 Hart Trophy winner, to an extension.

Another Bruins rival made a big trade Saturday when the Toronto Maple Leafs sent Patrick Marleau, 39, and his $6.25 million cap hit to the Carolina Hurricanes, who reportedly will buy him out as the veteran forward looks to return to the San Jose Sharks in free agency.
