BOSTON - If you weren’t inside the building at TD Garden you might have missed the pregame presentation recognizing Patrice Bergeron’s 1,000th game played in the NHL. Bergeron actually scored two goals in the Bruins' win over the New York Islanders while playing No. 1000 on Tuesday night, but the Bruins officially recognized the accomplishment ahead of the Saturday matinee at the Garden vs. the Los Angeles Kings.

Bergeron was given a number of awards, including a couple of framed photos and paintings, a silver stick and an excellent tribute video with congratulations from past and present teammates such as Glenn Murray, Marco Sturm, Mark Recchi, Shawn Thornton, Adam McQuaid, Chris Kelly and Johnny Boychuk.

Paul Pierce, Julian Edelman, fresh off his Super Bowl victory with the Patriots, Jason Varitek and David Ortiz also joined in.

“You are the best two-way player I ever coached,” said former B’s and current Montreal Canadiens coach Claude Julien when it was his turn to congratulate No. 37. If you haven’t seen the entire video, it’s worth a watch below to see the love, appreciation and admiration heaped on the gentlemanly Bergeron from so many people that played with or against him.
