The Boston Bruins have bolstered their scoring depth by signing right winger Craig Smith on the second day of NHL free agency.
The team announced Saturday that Smith's contract is for three years and worth $9.3 million ($3.1 million salary cap hit).
TSN's Pierre LeBrun reported the salary structure of Smith's deal, and also noted how Bruins center Patrice Bergeron played a role in convincing the veteran forward to come to Boston.

Smith should add much-needed goal scoring to Boston's second or third line. The 31-year-old forward has scored 20-plus goals in five of the last seven seasons. He tallied 31 points (18 goals, 13 assists) in 69 games for the Nashville Predators during the 2019-20 campaign.

He has spent his entire NHL career with the Predators after they drafted him in 2009.

Smith is the second move the Bruins have made in free agency. They announced on Friday a one-year contract with defenseman Kevan Miller. The Bruins also lost defenseman Torey Krug on Friday. He agreed to a seven-year, $45.5 million deal with the St. Louis Blues.
