With no Stanley Cup left to play for, two members of the Boston Bruins have joined their respective national teams for the ongoing International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship in Finland.
Right wing David Pastrnak (Czechia) and goaltender Jeremy Swayman (United States) have been added to their national rosters in the days following the Bruins' elimination from the Stanley Cup Playoffs after seven games in the first round at the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes.

Pastrnak had 40 goals and 37 assists over 72 games for the Bruins in the regular season before adding three goals and three assists against the Hurricanes. He'll be making his first appearance for the Czech national team since 2018, when he skated with it at the hockey World Cup.

With the Czechs, Pastrnak will be reunited with David Krejci, who returned to his homeland for the regular season this winter following 15 seasons with the Bruins.
Swayman went 23-14-3 for Boston this season as a rookie, recording a 2.41 goals against average and .914 save percentage. He took over for Linus Ullmark in the cage following the first two games of the first round vs. Carolina, winning three of five starts in his first postseason action but ultimately took the loss in Game 7.

Swayman's lone previous experience with the national team came at the World Junior Championships in 2018, when he appeared in one game for the Americans.
The Czechs last won gold at the IIHF Worlds in 2010, while Team USA hasn't won since 1960.
