A unique and historic 2020-21 NHL season began four months ago, and now 16 of the league's 31 teams are about to begin their pursuit of the best trophy in sports -- the Stanley Cup.
The first night of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs is Saturday, and the opening matchup is Game 1 of the East Division first-round series between Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins at Capital One Arena.

The game will be broadcast on NBC, with puck drop scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET. Earlier on Saturday, former NBC play-by-play man and legendary broadcaster Doc Emrick narrated an epic hype video for the playoffs.

In many ways, it's fitting that the Bruins and Capitals are opening the playoffs. These are two teams loaded with great players who play an exciting brand of hockey. It should be one of the most physical and intense series of the first round.
