Highlights from the Bruins' 2-1 OT win over the Avalanche

FINAL SCORE: Bruins 2, Avalanche 1 (OT)

FROM JOE HAGGERTY:

--Good day for John Moore, who scored a game-tying goal in the second period and almost had another one when a crazy dump-in attempt rocketed off the corner stanchion beyond the benches and then skidded past Avs goalie Semyon Varlamov. He’s got the goal, five shot attempts and a plus-1 rating in 10 plus minutes of ice time, and looks like a player that doesn’t want to come back out of the lineup.

--Charlie McAvoy has three hits this afternoon and drilled Matt Nieto with a big hit early in the game that kind of woke up the proceedings. It sure looks like McAvoy is finally getting comfortable with the physical aspects of his game as well as everything else the concussion gets further and further into the rear view mirror.

--Four shots on net and a plus-1 for Danton Heinen with another pretty strong effort skating alongside Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand. That’s the good news. The bad news is that David Pastrnak is starting to disappear a little bit within games while skating on that second line with David Krejci and Peter Cehlarik. He’s playing pretty well, but just isn’t the same consistent offensive threat that he is on the Perfection Line.

--Brad Marchand and the Bruins saved the best for last with another overtime game, and once again they were the two-point winners as they were on Saturday vs. the Kings as well. Marchand fired a shot from the high point as Marchand, Patrice Bergeron and Torey Krug were executing a three-man weave around the offensive zone in the 3-on-3 OT. Bergeron parked in front to screen Semyon Varlamov and the Bruins had themselves a gritty 2-1 overtime victory against a Colorado team that was equal parts physical, intense and hard-fought. It was also Marchand’s 21st goal of the season as that line continues to produce even with a new linemate on board.
