Things are beginning to shape up for the Bruins opening night roster as another round of training camp cuts arrived at the same time as Patrice Bergeron, Joakim Nordstrom and Sean Kuraly returned to the practice ice with the rest of the group.
The Bruins announced that B’s prospect and third line center candidate Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson was sent to the AHL and Providence Bruins training camp along with former first-round pick Jakub Zboril, Jordan Szwarz and Ryan Fitzgerald. 2018 third round pick Jakub Lauko was signed to a three-year entry-level contract and will report to Rouyn-Norand of the QMJHL and Zane McIntyre has been placed on waivers for the purpose of sending him to P-Bruins training camp as well.
Bruins D-man Matt Grzelcyk (lower body) was missing from the Friday practice ice at Warrior Ice Arena, and won’t be in the lineup for Saturday’s preseason finale as the B’s hope he’ll be ready to return at the start of next week. So it was a smaller group that took the ice for Friday’s practice in preparation of the final preseason while giving everybody a pretty good idea of what the opening night lineup will look like against the Washington Capitals on Oct. 3.
“I believe [Bergeron] will be ready Wednesday,” said Bruce Cassidy. “Kuraly and Nordstrom will play tomorrow and both are ready to go. Noel [Acciari] will go back in because he hasn’t played a lot of hockey and Torey Krug too. Most of the group that was out there [for Friday’s practice] will be playing. Let’s a take good look at what most of our lineup might look like and then we’ll go from there.”
