Bruins reveal starting goalie for Game 2 vs. Hurricanes

The Boston Bruins are not going to make a goalie switch for Game 2 of their first-round playoff series against the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday night.

Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy told reporters Tuesday that Linus Ullmark will remain the starting goaltender.

Ullmark was the starter in Game 1 on Monday night and allowed four goals on 24 shots against as the Hurricanes won 5-1 at PNC Arena.

The first two Hurricanes goals were not his fault as Carolina got plenty of traffic in front of the net and scored on deflections. The third goal was a 2-on-1 scorning chance that the 'Canes executed perfectly. The fourth goal was a bad one for Ullmark to let in, especially from the angle that Vincent Trocheck shot it from.

Bruins notes: Failing to score early cost B's in Game 1 loss to Hurricanes

But Ullmark didn't play poorly in the series opener, and based on how well he performed over the final two months of the regular season, he deserves to get at least another start.

Another bad performance will make the debate over which goalie the Bruins should start pretty interesting, though. Rookie netminder Jeremy Swayman played well in the regular season despite a rocky finish to the campaign.

It wouldn't be shocking if the Bruins turned to Swayman if Ullmark has a bad outing in Game 2.

The ideal scenario for the Bruins is one of these goalies getting hot and making it difficult for Cassidy to take them out of the net. Ullmark will get another chance Wednesday night.
