Miller (upper body) only player missing from B's practice on deadline day

BRIGHTON, Mass, – Kevan Miller was missing from Monday morning practice at Warrior Ice Arena setting off a quick blast of trade whispers based solely on his absence. But Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy quickly updated that Miller sustained an upper-body injury blocking a shot on the just-concluded five-game trip and is day-to-day with a chance he could miss the Tuesday night’ game against the San Jose Sharks.

“He blocked a shot…I think it was in Vegas and it just started acting up on him,” said Cassidy. “I don’t think it’s anything serious, but he may miss tomorrow [against the San Jose Sharks].”

Miller played 22-plus minutes and set up the B’s only goal in regulation with a sweet cross-ice pass in the second period, and didn’t really show many signs of injury in the shootout loss to the Blues on Saturday. Other than Miller’s absence, every Bruins player was on the ice and accounted Monday with only a few hours to go until the trade deadline.

In other news, David Pastrnak, recovering from thumb surgery, skated on his own prior to practice but wasn’t holding a stick while working out on his ahead of the team skate.

Here are the line combos and D-pairings for the Bruins at Monday’s practice in Charlie Coyle’s first time skating at the B’s practice facility:
