Morning Skate: Pulling for Boyle for Masterson Trophy

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while April continues to ponderously wait for arrival like a slow-moving battleship drifting into port…or something like that.

*Pro Hockey Talk has a list of all the Masterton nominees from each of the 31 NHL teams, and congrats to all of them. I absolutely think that David Backes was a great choice from my own Boston chapter, but I’ll probably be pulling for Brian Boyle with the New Jersey Devils after an amazing season where he battled cancer to get back on the ice with Jersey. He’s a great kid from a great, big Boston hockey family and he’s really shown perseverance and dedication to hockey at another level this season.

*Maple Leafs sophomore Mitch Marner is working his way to a big contract, according to Darren Dreger, while putting together a really strong season with Toronto.

*Calgary Flames coach Glen Gulutzan is calling “B.S.” on anybody that’s criticizing the character of his Flames team as they head for an unsatisfying sunset in the Western Conference.

*Tough news for former Sabres and Stars head coach Lindy Ruff as he hit his head on the ice and suffered a concussion while working as an assistant coach with the New York Rangers.

*It certainly sounds like Josh Ho-Sang doesn’t appreciate being a member of the New York Islanders given the way that they’ve treated him.

*For something completely different: I read some of this script from Donald Glover for the animated Deadpool Show and I got to agree with Marvel on this one. I just didn’t really get it at all.
