Morning Skate: A USA Hockey coaching gig for Langenbrunner

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while the last few days of August are fading away into autumn. You wouldn’t know it from the steamy 90 degree temps outside, however.

*Kudos to Bruins director of player development Jamie Langenbrunner, who has been selected as a coach for USA Hockey’s All-American Top Prospects game in September. That’s a nice little boon for the former Devils standout whose main job description is helping to harness Boston’s young talent.

*Apparently the media in Montreal feels like they need to “make hockey fun again” with the Canadiens after the last few seasons. Yeah, good luck with that. It’s never been about fun with the Habs. It’s always been about winning, and they haven’t done much of that in the last few seasons.

*Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are eager for redemption with the Edmonton Oilers for last year’s “kick in the head.” Last season was probably a kick to a lot of different places for Edmonton.

*It’s Toronto Maple Leafs Day at Pro Hockey Talk, and that means taking a look at Mike Babcock under a good deal of pressure with the Leafs these days. If he and Auston Matthews don’t stay on the same page then it could be very difficult for him in T.O.

*A Russian billionaire plans to construct the world’s largest hockey arena. I’m going to go ahead and guess it’s also going to feature the world’s longest hockey lines at an arena as well.

*For something completely different: Love the good sense that Tom Brady showed in finally pulling an Irish goodbye with his morning interrogation.
