Morning Skate: Will Bruins pursue Artemi Panarin?

Share

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading as the hockey offseason passes the halfway point:

-- These images of current NHL stars on 1970s-era hockey cards, complete with the hairstyles of the day, are something pretty special. I can’t decide if Sidney Crosby looks like Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite, or like Jaromir Jagr.

-- It sure looks like the solution to the Artemi Panarin problem with the Columbus Blue Jackets is a trade. He's the kind of player the Bruins should certainly be in on, along with any number of other teams looking for an explosive scoring wing. The question with him is whether or not he’d sign here long term.

-- Trevor Linden and the Vancouver Canucks decide to amicably part ways, with the club president seemingly not on board with the direction of the franchise. Interesting times in Vancouver, where ex-Bruin executive Jim Benning now gets to roll out his long-term vision.

-- Mitch Marner talks John Tavares, charitable events in Toronto and the bright future of the Maple Leafs during this Q&A.

-- The facts behind Steve Montador’s NHL career and the number of concussions he suffered is one of a number of sad stories involved in the ex-player concussion case against the league.

-- For something completely different: Not a good day for Facebook, as they’re paying a price for their hand in the Fake News influx that’s had a negative impact over the last couple of years.
