NHL announces dates for 2020 draft, free agency


The NHL on Friday announced dates for the 2020 draft as well as the opening of free agency.

The 2020 NHL Draft will begin Tuesday, Oct. 6 with Round 1 starting at 7 p.m. Rounds 2-7 will take place Wednesday, Oct. 7 starting at 11:30 a.m. ET/.

Free agency will open Friday, Oct. 9 at 12 p.m.

Torey Krug, Joakim Nordstrom, Zdeno Chara, and Kevan Miller are set to hit unrestricted free agency for the Boston Bruins.

The New York Rangers drew the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 draft and are expected to select top prospect Alexis Lafreniere.
