Report: NHL, NHLPA have 'tentative agreement' on 56-game season

Finally, we're getting some clarity on the 2021 NHL season.

The NHL and NHL Players' Association reached a "tentative agreement" Friday evening on a 56-game campaign, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

TSN's Frank Seravalli reports the agreement is on training camps beginning Jan. 3 and the regular season starting Jan. 13. The seven teams that didn't make the 24-team playoff can open camp on Dec. 30.

These dates haven't yet been finalized, however.

There is still plenty to work out on the NHLPA's conference call, but this seems to mark significant progress being made toward a plan for a successful hockey season in 2021.
