Patrick Kane praises Tom Brady ahead of game against Boston Bruins

Patrick Kane may be a native of Buffalo, New York and a member of the Chicago Blackhawks, but it hasn't stopped him from praising Tom Brady following the Patriots quarterback's sixth Super Bowl victory.

Kane spoke about Brady's greatness and his admiration for the Patriots passer in a recent interview with NBC Sports Chicago.

"It’s hard not to like him to be honest with you. Even if you’re a Bills fan. He’s just an unbelievable athlete. Even last night after the game, they’re talking to him and asking him if he wants to come back and he just has that motivation to keep playing and I think that’s probably the biggest thing. He can talk about himself taking care of his body and all that stuff and what he does off the field, but it just seems like he really has a passion for the game, a love for the game. It’s cool to see him to do that and it’s cool to see his passion.

Everyone is always trying to get a little extra edge. It’s cool to read about certain things that other guys do. You know, if you want to talk about Brady for example, I read his book, see what he does, how he trains and different things like that. It’s pretty cool to read that stuff and see how other guys are successful. That doesn’t mean it’s necessarily going to work for you. Every guy has their own way of going about it and how to make your body feel the best."

It's easy to see why Kane would like Brady given his track record of success at the highest level (six Super Bowl titles, 14-time Pro Bowler, fourth-most passing yards in NFL history). Kane is no slouch himself, as the 12-year veteran has 81 points this season, good for second in the NHL, and has three Stanley Cup titles and nine All-Star appearances to his name. Perhaps Kane sees a bit of himself in Brady and is trying to emulate his greatness in the NHL. After all, Kane is tied for second-most Stanley Cup wins among active players. Only his teammate, Chris Kunitz, has more (four).

These comments will take center stage, as Kane's next game will come against the Bruins on Tuesday night, and Kane will certainly be a focal point of the Blackhawks' offensive attack. The Blackhawks have been on a scoring tear as of late, notching 37 goals over the course of their seven-game win streak.

The Bruins successfully limited Kane in the first meeting between the two teams, holding him to no points in the Winter Classic, something that has happened just nine times this year (all Blackhawks losses). The Bruins will need to key in on limiting Kane once again as they look to extend their point streak to eight games.

Perhaps the Bruins could look to Kane's words on Brady and find the extra edge that they need to emerge victorious.
