Celtics' NBA title odds plummet, but is there a silver lining?

Remember when the Boston Celtics were considered a top-five NBA championship contender?

Believe it or not, it wasn't that long ago, as the Celtics looked like one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference entering the 2020-21 season.

Instead, they're a disappointing 15-15 through 30 games, have lost six of their last nine and look like a team that'd be lucky to make it out of the first round, much less the East.

Forsberg: It's been a nauseating ride with these roller-coaster Celtics

As you might expect, Boston's recent struggles have hurt the team at the sportsbooks. The C's now have the seventh-best odds to win the 2021 NBA championship at +2200 -- odds provided by our partner, PointsBet Sportsbook.

The Los Angeles Lakers still boast the best title odds, with James Harden and the Brooklyn Nets right behind them.

Los Angeles Lakers+260
Brooklyn Nets+350
Los Angeles Clippers+450
Milwaukee Bucks+800
Utah Jazz+1000
Philadelphia 76ers+1200
Boston Celtics+2200

The Celtics have tumbled to the No. 6 seed in the East and are just 0.5 games ahead of the No. 8 seed Charlotte Hornets.

Celtics Talk Podcast: How to fix the Celtics with Sean Grande, plus Aaron Nesmith on earning Brad Stevens’ trust | Listen & subscribe | Watch on YouTube

C's radio voice Sean Grande offered some important perspective, though: We still don't know how much seeding will matter in the postseason, where games could be played with varying levels of fans in attendance.

"Home court hasn't meant much so far," Grande told Chris Forsberg on a new Celtics Talk Podcast. "Is that going to be the same in May, or will it be different come the playoffs?

" ... In late May, could you have a playoff series where one team is allowed to have fans or a lot of fans, and the other team can have no fans? Let's say there's a breakout somewhere. So, you could have these colossal advantages and disadvantages, the stuff we're not even thinking about right now because it's three months away."

Also in the new episode: Grande reveals the player he would target in a Celtics trade. How do the Celtics fix their issues? How much blame does Brad Stevens deserve? And a 1-on-1 interview with Aaron Nesmith.
