Gordon Hayward will not be with the Celtics in the early going of the playoffs, Danny Ainge said Tuesday morning.
With Hayward recently beginning jogging, Ainge said the team is sending him to Indianapolis for the next phase of the rehab process to work with a leading specialist in running mechanics. Both the Celtics and Hayward have worked with the specialist before. Ainge added that he thinks Hayward is progressing nicely.
In a video posted earlier this month, Hayward was seen jogging on the court with trainer Jason Smeathers.
Although the team does not expect Hayward to return from his ankle injury until next season, the Celtics' priority is for Hayward to continue his rehab rather than be with the team.
